Hi, I'm Tom.
Wellbeing coach based in Sydney, helping people find their way back to themselves.
My story
Back in 2003 I began my career as a coach. Of course, I didn't call myself that or realise that was the path I had set my life upon. I just wanted to help people improve their lives.
Looking back now, I realise I was coaching long before I ever called myself a coach. Every job, every conversation and every challenge taught me something about people and, in turn, something about myself.
Along the way I've coached hundreds of people, but I've also spent plenty of time trying to understand myself.
Like many of the people I now work with, I've experienced depression, lost bits to cancer, changed careers more than once, run marathons, rebuilt my confidence and had periods where, despite having plenty to be grateful for, I didn't quite feel like myself.
Those experiences didn't make me a better coach just because they were hard. Sure, that helped. But really they had me reflecting on what actually helps people live well for the long term.
How I coach
I help busy people slow down, clear the noise and find their way back to themselves.
We might do that through movement, honest conversation, practical tools or time spent outdoors. Whatever approach we take, the goal is always the same: helping you make simple, realistic changes that fit your life.
I mostly work with professionals and business owners who have worked hard to build a good life. They're successful by most people's standards, but success doesn't always mean they feel calm, energised or fulfilled. Looking after themselves has become something they'll get around to next week... or next month... or when work finally settles down.
Most don't need someone screaming motivational quotes at them or another person telling them to optimise every minute of the day. They need space to think, support to reset and someone in their corner to help them follow through.
That's where I come in.
Things I've learnt
Big changes aren't always better. Most of us have careers, families and responsibilities. The small things we do consistently usually make the biggest difference.
Deal with the real. We spend so much time worrying about things that might not happen that we miss what's actually happening today.
Talking helps. Most people aren't looking for someone to solve their problems. They just need the chance to get out of their own way.
Success doesn't guarantee fulfilment. A good career is wonderful, but so are meaningful work, good people and feeling connected to your community.
Life is better when we spend time outdoors alone.
When your mind feels busy, write it down. Seeing your thoughts on paper often changes your relationship with them.
Ask for help sooner. You don't have to wait until things fall apart before talking to someone.
Breathe. Take one small action. Appreciate how far you've come.
If this sounds like you...
You work hard and care about doing a good job.
People probably think you've got things together.
But lately you've noticed you've been running on autopilot.
You struggle to switch off.
You keep telling yourself you'll get back to exercising, sleeping better or making time for yourself once life settles down.
You don't need someone to overhaul your life.
You just want to feel calmer.
Clearer.
And a little more like yourself again.
Let's go for a walk.
The best way to find out whether we're a good fit is to meet.
Book a free 30-minute Walk & Talk and we'll spend some time outdoors, chat about what's been going on in your life and see whether working together feels right.
No pressure.
No awkward sales pitch.
Just an honest conversation.
