Tom’s Snippets
One idea each week to help you slow down, think differently and enjoy life a little more.
A free weekly email about wellbeing, work and life — usually inspired by something I’ve read, noticed, tried, got wrong or found useful.
A little something for your inbox
I started Tom’s Snippets in 2023 because I wanted somewhere to share the ideas I kept coming across through coaching, reading and generally trying to figure out how to live well.
Some weeks it might be about stress or slowing down. Other weeks it could be habits, work, relationships, confidence, getting outside, or something that happened to me that made me think.
There’s usually something practical you can take away and try for yourself. But I’m not interested in pretending I have life figured out. I’m figuring plenty of it out as I go too.
Think of it as a few minutes each week to stop, have a think and perhaps see something a little differently.
What lands in your inbox
Tom’s Snippets is a short weekly read. No seven-step morning routines. No pretending you need to completely overhaul your life by Monday.
Just ideas that might help you feel a little calmer, clearer or more intentional about how you spend your time.
I write about the things I’m interested in and regularly talk about with coaching clients — wellbeing, habits, work, relationships, confidence, movement, nature and figuring out what actually matters to you.
Some Snippets are practical. Some are more reflective. Occasionally I’ll just tell you a story and see where we end up.
A few Snippets to get you started
Not sure whether it’s your cup of tea? Have a read of a few before handing over your email.
#105: Plan B
What do you do when life goes tits up?
A simple Plan B can keep you moving when you’ve slept badly, you’re short on time or everything feels 33% more difficult and 99% more annoying. This Snippet is about lowering the bar with kindness rather than giving up altogether.
#109: Laugh. Out. Loud.
What happens when the fast pace of everyday life becomes our normal?
Inspired by a story from a Pacific Crest Trail hiker returning briefly to civilisation, this Snippet explores the contrast between the slow pace of life outdoors and the speed at which the rest of us tend to hurtle through our days.
#113: The 1k Club
Can you move your arse one kilometre today?
No complicated training programme. No running unless you fancy it. Not even a time goal. Just one kilometre outdoors and a question worth asking: what’s actually stopping you from being fitter and healthier right now?
Fancy getting the next one?
